Visiting the Museum
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is located in the Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park, located off Woodmere Boulevard. In 2000, the park expanded and opened a new entrance off Vaughn Road, about one mile south of the Eastern Boulevard.

From Interstate 85, take exit six. If you are traveling south (toward Montgomery), exit left onto the Eastern Boulevard. If traveling north (toward Atlanta), exit right onto the Eastern Boulevard in the lane marked Carmichael Road/Woodmere Boulevard. Turn left onto Woodmere Boulevard. Turn right into the Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park.

Museum Hours
The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum galleries are closed on Mondays. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Museum is closed on the following national holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Admission is FREE.

Special Needs Services
The Museum provides programs and services to make its collections and exhibitions accessible to all visitors. The Museum makes every effort to display artwork and labels at levels which can be easily viewed by individuals in wheelchairs, which are available at the main entrance checkroom. For the hearing impaired, the Museum maintains an active list of nationally certified sign language interpreters who, upon request, can be provided for tours or Museum events. Also, sound amplification devices are available for all events held in the Museum’s Wilson Auditorium. Visitors may request these devices prior to performances. To accommodate the visually impaired, large print gallery information is available at the front desk. White Gloves Touching Tours are available for occasional special exhibitions.  For more information about the Museum’s special needs services, contact the Education Department at 240-4333.

Tours of the Museum
The Museum welcomes groups and individuals to tour the galleries. The staff endeavors to make each visit both enriching and enjoyable. In order to accommodate those who wish to tour the Museum, groups of ten or more should make advance arrangements for their visit. It is advisable for any group wishing to visit the Museum (whether or not a tour guide is requested) to make an advance reservation to insure space is available. The Museum Shop
The Museum Shop offers a wide selection of art-related items and gifts that are both unusual and affordable. Art books and cards, handmade porcelains and pottery, decorative glass and jewelry, as well as seasonal merchandise are just some of the offerings regularly available in the Museum Shop. Gift wrapping is available for any special occasion. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sundays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Museum Shop is also the source for many catalogues, books and periodicals published by the Museum in conjunction with exhibitions and programs.

Café M: An Artful Bistro
Café M is located within the Museum and serves a variety of luncheon items, including sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees, available Tuesday through Saturday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cafe is located adjacent to the Museum terrace, overlooking the lake with its flourishing population of birds of many types. It is an outstanding choice for a casual luncheon or a special occasion.

Military Open HouseYou can have your own special event at the Museum!
From the grand Rotunda with marble floors under a magnificent dome to the outdoor Terrace and Amphitherater with picturesque vistas, the Museum offers a resplendent setting to showcase wedding dreams and make business occasions unique.

The Museum can accommodate up to 250 guests for a seated dinner and 700 guests for a reception. Corporate meetings, military affairs and business seminars take on a new dimension against the backdrop of our nationally recognized permanent collection of American and regional art. Volunteers in ARTWORKSYou Can Help — Museum Volunteers
Volunteers play an integral role at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. You will find all types of opportunities to help the Museum, all tailored to the interest of the individual. Volunteer opportunities have very flexible time commitments so choose a position that fits your schedule.

Special Events
The Museum sponsors numerous projects for which volunteer help is needed, among them are the Flimp Festival in May and Holiday Open House in December.

Visitor Services
First Impression volunteers work at the Information Desk serving as information specialists and hosts to Museum visitors.

Museum Gift Shop
Shop volunteers enjoy greeting and assisting in sales to customers of the Museum Shop.

Adminstrative Assistants
These volunteers help with general office duties on a schedule that fits individual requirements of the volunteer.

This group of volunteers enjoys the congeniality of working together regularly to help with Museum mailings.

Hospitality
Duties may include working to plan and/carry out an event, including decorations, flower arranging, baking, etc.

Membership
Help to recruit and retain Museum members through campaigns, phonathons and exhibition openings, and recruiting and retaining members.

Education
Volunteers are trained to effectively interpret the Museum's collections and exhibitions and provide unique learning experiences in ARTWORKS I and II, the Museum’s interactive galleries, and the studios. The word “docent” means teaching tour guide. The Docent Program is a comprehensive program for the volunteer who has an interest in visual arts and would like to learn more about art. No art or teaching background is necessary. You will learn all you need to know and how to effectively lead tours for visitors of all ages.
