CURATOR OF EDUCATION (Curator III)
The Curator of Education is responsible for organizing, implementing and supervising the educational programs of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Programs are offered for audiences of all ages and educational levels, from pre-school to adult, with a special emphasis on participatory learning opportunities. The centerpiece of the museum's educational initiative is an 8,000 square foot interactive gallery (ARTworks) and two fully equipped art studios. Programs are designed to interpret the museum's outstanding permanent collection of American art, as well as a broad range of temporary exhibitions. The Curator of Education oversees a full-time staff of four, a corps of contract teachers and aides, as well as a large volunteer force, in delivering a full range of on-site learning opportunities. In addition to serving as department administrator, the curator designs and implements innovative learning opportunities for schools and the general public, overseas museum outreach efforts within the community, and serves to instruct and motivate all the museum's educators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in Art History, Art Education or Museum Studies and five years of experience in professional curatorial work or museum education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MUSEUM CURATOR III (Associate Curator)
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is now accepting applications for an Associate Curator. The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform professional curatorial work researching and documenting the nature and history of works of art in support of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts’ collection and exhibitions program. Responsibilities of the position include formulating, organizing and co-managing the Museum's schedule of temporary exhibitions; organizing and coordinating individual committees to oversee planning and execution of temporary exhibitions; researching potential acquisitions of works of art for the Museum’s permanent collection and responding to inquiries from scholars and the public; and organizing temporary exhibitions, to include research and writing.
